Summary

Ontario G1 Practice ("the app", "we", "us") is made by MMS Studio. This policy explains what information the app uses and why. It applies to the Android app (package name com.mrmms.g1ontario) and to this website.

In short: there is no account or login. Your study progress stays on your device. The app uses Google AdMob to show ads and Firebase for anonymous analytics and settings. Ads and analytics only start after you make a choice in the consent screen.

Information the app uses

Stored on your device only

  • Your answers, practice progress, mock test results, streaks and daily activity.
  • Your exam date, if you enter one, and onboarding status.
  • Your settings, such as dark mode and reminder preferences.

We do not receive this data. It is not uploaded to our servers, because we do not run a user database.

Collected automatically after consent

  • Advertising data: AdMob may use your device advertising ID, IP address, device type, operating system, and ad interaction data to serve and measure ads.
  • Analytics data: Firebase Analytics receives anonymous usage events, such as which screen was opened or that a test was completed. We do not attach your name, email or phone number to these events.

What we do not collect

  • No name, email address, phone number or home address.
  • No precise location.
  • No contacts, photos, microphone or camera data.
  • No payment information. The app does not process payments.

Advertising and consent

The app shows ads through Google AdMob. Before any ad request is made, the app shows a consent screen built with Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP). In regions where the law requires it (for example the EEA, the UK and some US states), you can accept, decline or manage your choices.

  • Banner ads appear only on the Home and Progress screens.
  • Full screen ads appear only after a mock test result, and never during your first session.
  • Rewarded ads play only if you tap to watch one.
  • There are no ads on practice question screens or mock test question screens.
  • Ad content is limited by setting the maximum ad content rating to T.

You can change ad personalization on your Google account at Google Ads Settings. You can also reset your advertising ID in your Android system settings. Read the AdMob Program Policies and How Google uses data from partner sites and apps for how Google handles ad data.

Analytics and remote settings

The app uses two Firebase services: Firebase Analytics and Firebase Remote Config. Analytics is disabled until you give consent. Remote Config lets us adjust ad frequency and turn ads on or off without a new app release. It does not read your personal data. Learn more in Firebase Privacy and Security.

Local storage and backup

Your progress is saved in a database on your device. If Android backup is turned on for your device, your progress may be backed up to your own Google account through Android Auto Backup. The downloaded question library and your consent and ad preferences are excluded from backup, so after a restore the app may ask for your consent again.

To delete all local data, clear the app's storage in Android settings or uninstall the app.

Notifications

If you turn on the daily study reminder, the app schedules a local notification on your device. On Android 13 and newer, the app asks for notification permission only when you switch the reminder on. The reminder is created on your device and does not use your personal data.

Content updates and network use

The app can download updated question content from our static hosting over HTTPS. The file is checked with a checksum before it is used. Like any web request, this exposes your IP address to our hosting provider. We do not use those requests to identify you.

Who receives information

  • Google (AdMob): advertising and ad measurement.
  • Google (Firebase): anonymous analytics and remote settings.
  • Our hosting provider: serves question content files and this website.

We do not sell your personal information. We do not share it with anyone else, except where the law requires it.

Retention and deletion

Data on your device stays until you clear it or uninstall the app. Analytics and advertising data held by Google follows Google's own retention rules described in the policies linked below. Because we cannot identify you from the data we receive, we usually cannot look up or delete an individual record, but you can contact us with any request and we will help where we can.

Your rights and choices

Depending on where you live, you may have rights under laws such as the GDPR and UK GDPR, the California Consumer Privacy Act, and Canada's PIPEDA. These can include the right to access, correct or delete information, to withdraw consent, and to object to certain processing. You can:

Children

The app is intended for people who are preparing for a driver's knowledge test and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided information, contact us and we will act on it.

Security

Content downloads use HTTPS and are verified before use. Progress data stays in the app's private storage on your device. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, so we cannot promise absolute security.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when the app or the law changes. The date at the top shows the latest version. For major changes we will update the app's store listing or show a notice in the app.
